What we do, and what we will not touch

Fil Air Ltd is registered for other building completion and finishing (SIC 43390) and is registered at Station Road, Wood Green, in north London.

Completion and finishing is the last set of trades into a room: plastering and skimming, dry lining, painting and decorating, joinery and second fix, flooring and tiling, and the snagging that should happen before anybody says a job is done. It is the part a client sees every day, and it is almost entirely decided by how well the preparation was done.

Now the exclusions, which matter more than the list above. We do not carry out gas work: only an engineer registered with Gas Safe may work on gas fittings and appliances, and nobody else may, whatever they tell you. We do not carry out electrical installation work, which in a dwelling is subject to Part P of the Building Regulations and is best done by someone on a competent person scheme. We do not do structural work, and we do not design.

We also do not disturb or remove asbestos. Asbestos is routine in buildings from before 2000, and work on it is either licensed or notifiable depending on the type. If we find anything we suspect, work stops and you are told, rather than it being sanded through.

Despite the name, we are not an air conditioning or refrigeration business. We do not install, service or decommission systems containing fluorinated greenhouse gases, which requires certification we do not hold.

Where a job needs a trade we are not, we will say so and tell you what registration or certification to ask that person for. That tends to be more useful than us having a go.
